Now that both my Goblins and Uruk-Hai are finished and waiting for their opponents I found the time to fulfill a desire long overdue. I always thought that the lack of teams from the Hobbit range at our LotR gaming sessions was not a good thing at all. The problem is (as I see it) that the Hobbit lists tend to be pretty limited. The only exceptions are “Azog’s Hunters” and “Thranduil’s Hal”. Those two offer at least a small amount of heroes, different infantry and also mounted models. Yet they are still much less appealing than “Minas Tirith” or “Mordor” if you look at it that way.
That being said I know that I still have some unfinished men from Gondor lying around here. I just have to admit that I tend to favour the bad guys when it comes to Tolkien thus the Wild Hunt of Azog jumped in the queue even if Gondor certainly isn’t abandoned.
As I watched the third extended Hobbit movie for the first time some days ago I couldn’t help it. I had to start a vanguard force of mount Gundabad under the command of Azog. Really looking forward to the day that I can field Azog himself in a bigger points match. He’s a real beast and scrum’s Dwarves would be great opponents for him. But for now 100 points as a test will do fine. Here is the stuff I intend to paint and field later on:

3x Hunter Orc
3x Hunter Orc with Orc Bows
1x Hunter Orc with two-handed weapon
4x Fell Wargs

96 Points

The differently equipped Orcs marked the start of the new project. While I kept their clothes pretty simple I spent more time on their skin. It's really fun to try the different skin tones of the twisted Orcs.

Not so much fun is taking pictures during winter. I suppose we have equally much daylight here as in Mordor right now.
