So last night I managed to complete my Necron Destroyer cult for my Speed Painted Necron army. Quite happy with how these came out and how quickly I can get a formation painted for the table! Obviously not my best work but

The Destroyer cult is one of the best formations in the codex, giving all of the destroyers re roll to wound and armour penetration rolls making them incredibly good at gunning down vehicles and marines. Destroyers come with preferred enemy anyway so they also re roll 1s to hit which when hitting on 3s, wounding on 3s with re rolls (AP3 strength 5 weapons) they absolutely shred marines. Against vehicles fishing for Gauss 6s to glance means you can hull point down even land raiders with relative ease. A great combo is mixing destroyers with a Triarch Stalker to bump them up to BS 5 and thus hitting on 2s with re rolls!

Here are a couple lists I have been bouncing about with a maxed out destroyer cult (very shooty!) with a unit of Lychguard to act as my combat deterent/hammer. I still love Zahndrek, he is an utter force multiplier and in maelstrom or objective based games he is insanely useful. His bubble of re roll 1s to hit with shooting (if he switches warlord trait) is a bit wasted but conqueror of citys (stealth ruins) can be massive in keeping you army alive. Manipulting reserves (yours or your enemies) can also be very tasty. A nice combo is dropping the Destroyer lord into a shooting or combat unit to bestow preferred enemy (everything!) can be really nice too. Lychguard for example benefit massively from it in combat.

My second list has a smaller destroyer cult but has squeezed in a cheeky Canoptek harvest which is a great combo with the Destroyer Lord joining the wraiths to give them preferred enemy and some guaranteed High Strength Ap2 attacks at a different initiative step. He can also tank some S10 attacks to prevent the wraiths being killed instantly if they fail their 4++ or reanimation save.
