This isn’t really so much of a blog that I anticipate people reading, it’s just a landing page for my groups forums where we can organize our games

No matter how many other games I go and play, I seem to always come back to Dungeons & Dragons. It’s been awhile this time. I’ve been involved in a lot of Warhammer 40k, Warhammer 40k Role Playing, Call of Cthulhu, etc.

I skipped 4th Edition in its entirety, the game had moved further and further away from the core game I loved. I had played D&D (and then AD&D) since 1978, but this was the first time I had absolutely zero interest in playing. 5th Edition came out and by that time I had bought into Pathfinder pretty hard. But it wasn’t until recently that I really took a strong look at the new edition.

I was absolutely stunned with how good 5th edition appears to be. It really struck me just how far back they have taken the game. The emphasis here is Role Playing, not numbers or mechanics. Unfortunately, with the fallout from 4th Edition my beloved Forgotten Realms has moved on and just isn’t the same anymore. I thought about running games in the old version of The Forgotten Realms – but finally just decided to try something different. So I’ve taken the maps from the Dungeon Crawl Classics campaign setting and created my own background and stories to go along with them.

Now I have multiple groups already wanting to play. My kid has expressed a ton of interest in Dungeons & Dragons and now it looks like I will be running games for their friends as well as my own. So two separate games, set in the same world. I can’t wait to see how this all goes down.
