Thank you Neil and 11th company for pointing out indirectly something that is lost in almost all of the forums, podcasts, blogs, etc. Having fun while playing 40k is the most important thing. While it is inferred that we have fun and win or lose it doesn't matter, but 40k players are very competitive and that is a fact. Yes the hobbyists are less WAAC, but still enjoy winning. Neils grey knights were the army that made this a true "yeah I curb stomped player x, but it wasn't a good game". The nerd rage from the GK codex is still going on but i feel like a lions share of players have realized these games with the invincible GK's Vs. Army X tend to suck donkey @#$ for both players. The GK player is not challenged and the other guy is tired of pulling models off and getting shutdown at every turn. Yes i know GK do lose from time to time and yes they can be beat by a great player with almost any army, but these are hard fought and do depend on dice going your way. Fast forward to today and Neils new army, Necrons. He likes them! Why? They are soooo OP? nope? they are auto-win vs all other armies? NOPE. Because they are fun. Yes,close well fought games where the winner can be on either side of the table at any point are fun! Yep boys and girls winning is fun(er) if you work for it. This all said I have taken back to my roots and resurrected my tyranids. I've stripped ~3500 points, began repainting, and added a few models( ok a ton of models ). I still hate to see force weapon-palozza, but whatever I like my army and I have fun. One other thing. The best thing that happened to the meta recently is the GK and Crons coming out. They have made together the other codex's more balanced as a whole universe and now your uber army has to worry about getting into a bad match up finally. GK>SW, Crons> GK, DE>nidz, GK>DE, Tau>GK, NIDz>Tau, etc etc etc. ( i know not always but there are bad match up from the get go ). I also want to thank the Panda, Lorax and my old high school friends, Fridge, Michigan, and Jukebox. :)
