Hot on the heals of the Copycat Killer, I finished painting another model later that day!

But before I show you the model, I will point you towards the first two models I finished from the Khaliman Republic army, here and here.  They were posted on my joint blog Tales of Gamers, but as it’s not really an active blog these days, I figured I would start posting any new progress here at 10-4.

Anyway, on to the third model of the starter, the second Malikh Jaraya:

As I mentioned the other day, I actually started this guy late last year, but Ogres and Warjacks bumped him back.  Well, he’s been asking to be finished, just hanging out in my paintpot box for the couple of months, so I decided to take him out and finish him.

There’s not too much to say about him.  I won’t list the colours I used on him, but I will say that most of the paints were P3, the gold and ‘bronze’ were Vallejo, and the washes were GW.

But speaking of washes, I know I mentioned it already but I will repeat here that his skin, which I am totally, totally proud of, was a product of simply layered washes (GW Gryphonne or Seraphim Sepia) over a white prime.  His chest and face got the least amount of wash, while his back got the most, so it ends up looking like his ‘bottom’ fur is white-ish and his actual fur gets darker/orange-r as it goes back.

I am also happy with how his spots came out.  At this point I don’t recall the actual colour I used for the outer rings, likely (P3) Cryx Bane Base, though.  Then I added a drop of (GW) Baal Red wash to the centre of any rings that had one, and voila.  I think they turned out great.

The overall fur techniques were what I was a little afraid of when I chose the Khaliman Republic, but so far it’s going well.  One of the next figures is a tiger, and if I can properly paint a leopard and a tiger, I think the rest of the army will turn out just fine.  I will likely bump the last two models of the starter up in the queue, along with the Dead Doxies.  So far I am doing alright juggling my various projects.  But the year is still early, and I was doing this well (or better?) at this point last year.  Wish me luck on keeping the streak going!

Thanks for reading.
