I was a bit fast on this one I have to admit. She is no part of my Regiments of Renown team but the leader of the 500 points list that will probably follow. I was just in the mood to paint her and she is an integral part of the background story of my Dwarves. Therefore I’d like to tell her story today so that you can see what inspires my Dwarves in their battles to come.

The glimpse of a smile could be seen for a mere second on the face of the young dwarven noble. The last weeks were everything but pleasing for Branhilde Olkasdottir. How long did she fought for the approval of the Clan’s elders? The Stonehammer Clan, close relatives to the Stonebreaker Clan both residing in the city of Zhufbar, was not known to be overly stubborn. By Dwarven standards that is. Her misfortune had always been that marriage proposal her father gave to another clan’s Thane. Taking care of a kitchen’s fire for another noble Dwarf might be an honour for other women but not for Branhilde who already had a reputation as a fierce warrior. Female dwarven warriors were not unheard of keeping heroes like Helegar Thrundsdottir in mind.
Now Branhilde was standing on a bluff in the World’s Edge Mountains and looked down in the valley. The freezing winds played with her thick and red plaits as a procession of her faithful followers passed by. They were not many but by Grungni her army would grow soon enough. Her fame as a talented leader led more and more dawi warriors to follow her on her quest for glory. With their help she would prove the clan’s elders and her father wrong. She would smash the skulls of Greenskin and Skaven all and sundry. Maybe she would even be able to take back a long-lost dwarven hold? The young Dwarf’s grip tightened around her trusted old hammer Bonebreaker which was ever since the time of her elders her clan’s sign, as the visions of her future glory took form.

This was a test as I'm not used to keep the rank and file of a regiment in mind when I'm putting miniatures together. I have to keep an eye on this.
