Since the release of “Deathwatch Overkill” I am working again on my Genestealer Cult. Because I really like this setting I am planing to build an own board with a mining theme just like in the board game for 40K. It will be a black board where I can place the self-made terrain pieces. You won’t be able to move on the black part as this will be supposed to be like a chasm. The first terrain pieces will be remakes of the card board pieces in the Deathwatch box. I am planing to use them later on for regular 40K, Deathwatch and Necromunda.
To create these terrain pieces I came up with some scratchbuilds and 3D-prints which were later on copied with the help of silicon moulds and resin casts.
Unfortunately I started similar projects before but wasn’t able to finish them. Hence I came up with this:
- At first all pieces of the Deathwatch game will be remade. I am working on them in the right order to start the first mission as soon as possible. This will hopefully give me enough motivation to finfish the rest after we already had games on them.
- After that I would like to come up with additional completely self-made terrain pieces until I can fill a 48×48″ board with them. Things I am going to include will be an assembly hangar for tanks, a shaft tower and a barrack for the miners. To assure that there generally is enough terrain on the board there’ll be rocks and small mountains to block the line of sight. Crates and battles will supply additional cover.
- The last step would be multiple levels on the terrain pieces to give the board a Necromunda feel.
This three steps and the fact that I already spent 200€ should give me the right motivation to finish this project. So stay tuned for more!

The charts were made in a CAD-program first.
These pieces came back from the printing service.
The printed pieces gave birth to silicon moulds and lots of new resin casted tiles.
The parts were assembled just like on the Deatwatch card board tile.
