This particular project had been an idea I’d been thinking about for a while and when a friend of mine said he’d be interested in it I had all the excuse I needed to put it together. When the Grey Knight Nemesis Dreadknight was originally released I remember seeing the Force Sword from that kit used in a number of really good Dreadnought conversions and I found myself thinking that the sword on a Contemptor pattern Dreadnought would make for a really nice Librarian Dreadnought.

I’d never actually put together a Contemptor until recently but it’s a very nice kit with a lot of posing options. I knew I wanted some kind of hand gesture showing the Dreadnought using his psychic powers, with the other hand holding his weapon. The rest of the pose followed pretty easily.

After trying the sword I opted to turn it into a spear as it’s a bit more “Librariany” and quite fitting for a Blood Angel. My favourite elements of this model are the outstretched hand and the chest iconography. To make the chest I tried a new approach by using a laser printer to print out a template on thin plasticard. I was then able to glue the cutout in place and build up the greenstuff accurately on top of template.

After putting together the video below I did make some additions before handing the model over. This included some lightning bolt iconography to reflect his librarian status and unusually for a Dreadnought, a bad ass cloak. Unfortunately, I forgot to take any more pics or video, but my friend has promised to let me update this post with pics and video once it is fully painted (something I rarely get to do).
