Today’s post has nothing to do with any AD&D stuff yet I couldn’t resist chosing this catchy title. What I had in mind was that with all the enthusiasm regarding the new 8th edition of Warhammer 40.000 we could expand our gaming habits and aim for more customised scenarios. We don’t get to play very often anyway so why not invest more into the matches that we will have? With that thought in mind I browsed through some of my ideas I had since years but never managed to play out. Our gaming club is able to gather five players who all got a traitor Legion of the 41st millennium at hand. This is a great starting point for a couple of story driven matches. Lots of rivalry going on with plenty of hints towards the past, the Horus Heresy of course.
Special scenarios often require special terrain. So I went through the stuff I have here and found a plastic temple of a board game from 1992 which followed in the wake of Hero Quest’s success. I only found this picture of the original plastic piece. Yet it was not ready for paint as it was missing a whole wall section and some other details like the horribly out of scale doors which needed some fixing.
This long forgotten Chaos temple will be the center piece for the first scenario of our Chaos Legions battle.

Early WIP shot: Some years ago I gave the terrain a paint job for a Dungeon Crawler which I was working on. The back was closed with cork to simulate a rocky surface.
