So we're half-way through the year, and I'm back writing posts. After a wedding, holiday and odds and ends, I have a few small update on a variety of new and exciting projects on my workbench.

With the newest edition of Age of Sigmar arriving yesterday, the last few weeks seems a great chance to start a new army. I've always had a soft spot for Warriors of Chaos (having had an army in 6th/7th edition WHFB). But rather than the grotesque monstrosities, I want to focus more on their original routes: frozen wasteland viking-like marauders. Axes, fur and beards are in my future...

The first unit I've started working on is 10 marauders with shields. The base models are the Shadespire Garek's Reavers (painted) and some easy-build Bloodreavers. To make them more Viking then Blood God, I've trimmed off most of the horn spikes and Khorne helmet parts, smoothing them down. The models also have shields from the Grave Guard set.

Finally, the beards. Every model in he squad has some sort of facial hair, befitting a true Nordic warrior. These were sculpted from greenstuff and shaped to follow the flow of each model.

In the 40k world, something really big has arrived. I bought this bright yellow Warlord (as seen is Terran-pattern safety harness) recently, and thought the best thing to do was to convert it to Chaos.

It's needed quite a lot of work to add in the detail again, remove some rough patches of material, and clean up some areas of paint. A model this large was too much for me to strip, plus most of the paint is ok, so it was just a case of cleaning up the gloopy patches and smoothing it all together.

The engine and head have seen the most conversion work. I canibalised some exhausts from another tank, and sculpted several rows of teeth on the Warhound's head to give the model a clear identity. Finally, the whole model now has rivets.

When it comes to paint it won't just be blue. I will be creating a variation of the Thousand Sons-aligned Legio Xestobiax. Luckily I have a can of purple spray from another project, so this should be fun...

Anf finally, an update on a side project. I got this really beaten up Baslisk for a very low price, but it needed a lot of work. Missing parts, horific paint and mismatch parts meant a big challenge.

But now I can report on the finished tank. With new parts and a clea Iron Warriors paint scheme, the tank has a new lease on life.

The crew comprises of a MKIII iron warrior and a human slave, made from half a Genestealer Cultist and half a Bolt Action weapons team loader, with some greenstuff in between.

The gun shield is the main change on the tank, and is entirely plasticard. I tried to style it on the IW's hazard stripe details. Whilst the tank started off as a side project, I may get another two and use them as an auxiliary choice in one of my forces.

For now this is all,
