Hey guys and gals,

I have recently finished those lovely Salamander Movie Marines, and I thought I would share the finished product. I am really pleased with how they came out, and so is Thor.I did something new with this batch, and tried out a new technique. I wanted to add battle damage to the shields and the Dreadnought, and I did some research into using a sponge for the effect. It’s a simple process, and I was really happy how it came out. You take a small bit of sponge, dab it in brown or black paint, then lightly press it onto the area you want damaged. After that, you simply highlight the lower half of it and then you’re done. Simple, but really effective.

Onto the minis. First up is the command squad. I had a lot of fun with those shields, as the shields had enough space to practice the battle damage on.

Next up is the leader of this group, the count-as Vulkan. For those who don’t know, Thor built this model using Lugft Huron from Forge World with some slight conversions. I am really happy with the light effect on his claws. It is the first time I have done it, and while I know I can defiantly improve, I think it’s a good start.

And last but not least for the sons of Vulkan, here is the Contemptor Dreadnought. A real joy to paint, and a learning experience as well. This may be the largest mini I have ever painted, and getting a smooth green basecoat was a slight challenge. But after all is said and done, I like how he came out. Quite a menacing machine isn’t he?

These Marines are not the only thing I have been working on in the past week. I have been slowly painting my Winter Guard for my small Khador force. A fair amount done so far, and I am really pleased with how they are progressing.

Winter Guard WIP
With all of my projects finished for other people, I will be focusing on my Khador miniatures for a week or two. Hopefully I can finish my Winter Guard and a Warjack in that time, and maybe get my hands on a Warcaster. I have also got a new tutorial in the works at the moment. I will let you wonder what it could be. Here is a hint, it involves green and blue.

Cheers!
