Hello there people of the blogosphere! Today i wasn't really sure of what i felt like talking about, so i thought i'd just go with showing you my Space Wolves Army. It was originally built within the confines of 5th edition, and so a fair deal of the wargear might be a bit out of date.
Anyways, today, there will be a lot of pictures. I am a bit distressed over not having it completely re-painted yet, but i'm getting there slowly and purposefully(get it?haha...). Most of my units have now undergone the process of being painted grey, washed, drybrushed and some of the detailing has begun. They have all gotten their shoulder pads painted to their corresponding colour, but i'm not yet done with trims and alot of other things.
The entire army, and several distractions in the background there. |
When looking at the pictures, the army doesn't look that big, which only adds to the shame of not having finished the project. Ahhh well, it's not like there's much to be done about it now anyway. This was my first completed army project in warhammer 40K so all in all i guess it's not surprising that it's hard to finish it for a second time.
My trustworthy Wolf Scouts performed very neatly in 5thED. |
On the picture above you can see a home made meltagun. It was made in a hurry before a tournament quite some time ago. I believe it was a sunday and we were leaving for the tournament in the morning, so i had to use what i could find from the bitz box. That happened to be a scout shotgun and some greenstuff.
The thundering voice of the army, my Rune Priests. |
Yaaaargh! Rune Priest Gunnar in Terminator Armor! |
Gunnar above, is a "kitbash" made from an old librarian terminator, Wolf Guard Terminator bitz and greenstuff. I think he looks quite cool :) Behind him is his chooser of the slain.
Rune Priest Gunnar in his Runic Armor. |
Ormyr Ishjarte in the middle, as you have met before and his two subordinates. To the left: Olafur Trollvrede. To The Right: Eigir Frosthammer |
This handsome fellah' is Gjalf Icereaver, Wolf Lord of reavers hundred fists. |
I originally started out with a concept that i needed the army to fit into having 50 walking models with a pair of hands each, that way the army would be called "Reavers Hundred Fists". I've always liked to put a theme on my armies, if only a little.
The Long Fangs in this army. |
I've always liked the lascannon, and the missile launchers are handy due to being so versatile. The plasma cannons are great, but i always end up rolling a 1 on both of them. Ending up killing them both before they can do anything. Bad Luck i guess...
Here Comes The Cavalry! |
I've used these guys a fair bit back in 5th edition, but when the flyers started coming, these guys simple didn't help out that much anymore. I'm also quite tired of playing with them as they were a central part of my army for a while. One thing i like though is the Raging Heroes Cyberwolves that i bought before the TWC kit came out from GW.
Dreadnoughts Jotun And Balder! |
Usually they end up having two Autocannons, but at this time i couldn't find the proper arms, so i just put on some other weapons. They are not glued so i can simply switch between options.
Wolf Standard #1 |
Wolf Standard #2 |
Wolf Standard #3 |
With the grey hunters using wolf standards, i tried some simple conversions as i don't like having identical models. It just seems so much cooler when they are all different in some way.
Wolf Lord on a thunderwolf. I liked the concept of having twin wolf claws on him, it just looks that cool. |
Wolf guard Terminators. |
I've got Arjac in there just because he is a badass, but i use him as a regular terminator more often than not.
Wolf Guard with Combi-Weapons. |
I like Wolf Guard because of the almost endless possibilities they can be kitted out with, these guys however are more designed to just be squad leaders.
Lukas. |
I loved the model of Lukas The Trickster, and so i couldn't resist painting him. Here he is in the old colour scheme which i had. I don't think i will be painting him again as i still like how he looks. He also is sort of a rebel so i guess that could explain why his armor is not grey if i ever decide to use him again.
Transportation. |
A cheap but fair enough case to transport the army in. It's a tight fit, but somehow they all go in there.
And that as they say, is that. It's not complete and i'm not satisfied with it yet, but in the end, i think it will look good. Well, for now i'll just go back to my workdesk and keep on doing whatevere i feel like doing with my spare time. The most important thing is to have fun with your hobbies, and with that i bid you farewell for now.
As Always, have a good time, enjoy yourself :)
