Once again the RTT went off without a hitch.  A little less players than we had last month (12 total), but NOVA OPEN burnout as well as life does get in the way.  That said we still had $50 for first place, $40 for 2nd, and $35 for James and my wonky award ( this time it was mid-pack player award ).  Everyone still got giant donuts ( bought by James with his own money!!) Pizza for lunch, and 2 drinks from HUZZAH HOBBIES all for the entry fee of $15.  Not bad IMHO.

So the good was we did 1999+1k points in 2.5 hrs.   This was great as most got to play out the games even at this high point level. Good job guys.   The top tables were so close in points it was crazy ( only 3 BP separating them at the end.  )  Most people i felt had a great time. In fact I didn't talk to one person that said they didn't already mark the calendar for next month.

The bad was ( and it's not really that bad ) players complain about time in the last round.  So for the last 3 RTT's we have had some table insist that they can go over the 2.5 hours to finish the game. The problem is the store is open at night to accommodate us, so when we leave it closes and the other 5+ tables have finished and want to go home ( as well as James and I ).  We give time limits for a reason. I don't give a shit that you can't get it done, nor do the 12-20 other players in the room.  I also don't want to get a email from the store owner asking why he had to pay an employee overtime to keep the store open for a few extra hours for 2 players.  As i will speak with James about a hard cut time limit for the final round.  I will even add extra time just in case, but it's part of the game. If the judges are questioned or more bitching and moaning takes place, you will forfeit the game earning zero points for the 3rd round. Time, points, and dice rolling are all part of a RTT's and GT's for that matter.  Learn to play the game and realize you are not more special than the other players that payed just like you.  You are a player and a grown up.

One last thing is have fun when going to a RTT.  I see WAAC players show up and yes they have fun, but they know that is the way it should be.  If you want to win and win only you will have more bad games than anyone.  Nothing is better than wanting to play your opponent again because you had a great game.  I was the ringer as well as a judge at the RTT and I got to play the 2nd place winner Matt S. in the first round ( to protect the innocent I have changed his name :) ).   He is a very competitive player and puts tons of thought in his lists ( a nasty eldar list this time).  I brought a off the wall Daemon list that i felt would be fun to play.  Well I lost and lost bad, but I had fun. Matt was a great player and knew he had to make the best of the game for both of us.  Point is he won and we both had fun. No dick moves, giving someone the benefit of the doubt etc is part of a good game.  I thank you Matt as what could have been 2.5 hours of me not really wanting to be there turned into hey I'd play you again.

Hopefully the EternalWAAGH  will put pics from the RTT this week with his recap.

See everyone next 3rd sunday of every monthy @ HUZZAH HOBBIES.
