Behind the Blog – Frontline Gaming

In the Grim Dark Future, there is war, and blogging about said war. Also blogging about anything and everything else going on. Blogging is a thankless job most times, and while our online community is pretty awesome in general as we celebrate all things Grim Dark, hobby, and miniature related. Seldom is the curtain pulled back to shine a light behind the scenes. The people who devote themselves to the dark god's of blogging work away frantically keeping the posts flowing. So in this series we will be speaking to some of our communities most dedicated. Getting a small glimpse into the minds of our fellow bloggers, and pillars of our online world. To get this glimpse a short series of questions went out into the warp, and these are the bloggers who responded.

Today we speak with Reece from Frontline Gaming




Reece is pretty deep into 40k everything. A store owner, a tournament organizer for hire,and a avid player. I know few people that play more often than Reece does, and honestly as much as he has to do with the hobby I would expect some level of burn out. Frontline gaming does it all though. He makes terrain and custom boards ready to order in kits, offers tactics and advice on playing along with regular video battle reports. He is the first to test out a new codex and post some results to share with the community many times. Also despite being a internet personality he is very approachable and laid back. Frontline Gaming's blog is turning into one the communities reference sites for tactic information oh and if you haven't heard the man is running a GT in Vegas! Yes Vegas, while this is the first year I firmly believe this is the event that could grow to be larger than or just as large as Adepticon if he sticks with it. What originally got you into blogging?

Is there a story behind your blogs name?

Frontline Gaming is also the name of our store! We thought it was a good name for a store, really no other cool story behind it.

Can you name two articles you have written in the past you really enjoy and why?


Uh, I write a LOT of content, and recently I am really enjoying the reviews I am writing for the Space Marine Codex, which you can find indexed on our site here:

The second would be my first BoLS article written a loooong time ago, at least 3 years ago, now. I wrote about my now notorious Footdar and how they performed well in a competitive setting and everyone called me an idiot. I then took the army to the final 8 of Adepticon, out of 256 of the best 40K players out there. That was quite satisfying =)

It took a bit of digging since it wasn't posted by Reece but I believe this is the article he's talking about. 

How do you keep up with blogging and how much time does it take up out of your personal life?

I am a professional nerd, and so dedicate time to it every day while running the store. It's the only way I can produce as much content as I do.

Are there some really great blogs that inspire you or that you would like to shout out?

So many good ones. Bell of Lost Souls was the first big one, 3++ is great, Faeit 212, BoK, and the list goes on, tons of smaller blogs too with great content and the forums like Dakka and such. We have a really awesome online community

If you had one tip for a newer blogger what would you tell them?

Consistency, interaction and grammar. You have to persevere and keep producing the best content you can, week in and week out. Readers are fickle and lose interest incredibly rapidly. If you don't keep putting out good info they want to read, you fade away. You also need to engage your readers as for me anyway, that's half the fun! I like the interchange of ideas. Lastly, you don't need to Shakespeare, but make sure you spell check your articles and get the grammar correct as it really puts people off if you do not. If you do all of those things, you will be rewarded with a very satisfying blog!
