Greetings fellow wargamers!  Now that the holidays are over we're finally getting caught up here in the studio.  And man do we have some catching up to do.  At WMG we're always pushing our comfort zone on models, trying to come up with startling new conversions that not only inspire us but hopefully inspire our viewers to test their own mettle and cut those shiney plastic kits of theirs into little pieces and then glue them back together again . . . like legos!  Remember, a TO can't stick it to you if you're using mostly GW bits.

Over the last few months, we've been working on a a Chaos/Necron 'Egyptian' themed list that will incorporate Thousand Sons and Necrons.  We liked the look of these armies together on the tabletop, and wanted to push the limits of how we could further incorporate their shared themes.  Admiring the new heldrake kit, we came up with the idea to do a massive vulture style heldrake, something in the likeness of the great vulture headed for Horus himself.

We liked the basic heldrake, but definitely wanted to incorporate some Tomb Kings style bird like wings from the Necrosphinx kit.  We rounded up a few sets from our choice bits provider as well as a Chimera from the Storm of Magic Warhammer Fantasy expansion.  We also grabbed some spares in the forms of these metal wings from Reaper, and a few Dark Eldar bladed weapons to complete our bits selection.

The rest was just fill in the blanks, vulture head in place of dragon head, tomb kings style wings in place of the first few wing arrays, and use the smaller bits to help blend the pieces together.

For the baleflamer, we simply removed the chimera's tongue and swapped it out for the narrow baleflamer.  It was a pretty close fit, with a little shaving off.

The model brings back memories of the original Stargate film (not the subsequent TV spin offs) when the alien fighter craft come zooming out of the template to attack the slaves revolting.
Love it, hate it?  Chime in and let us know!
