This past weekend, I played in a Doubles Tournament as my FLGS. I took the Executioners and once again partnered with Chris’s Tyranids. He’s been doing very well with the new book so far, so we had high hopes. This tournament had three games, and Escalation, Stronghold Assault, and 40K Approved Forgeworld were all allowed. Here are our lists:

Executioners 1,000 points (using Imperial Fist Chapter Tactics)

Librarian Thoth-Amon
Librarian w/ Mastery Level 2

Sgt. Kull
9 Tactical Marines w/ heavy bolter, Rhino

Sgt. Taurus
5 Scouts w/ veteran sergeant, 4 sniper rifles, missile launcher, camo cloaks

Sgt. Brule
5 Devastators w/ veteran sergeant, 4 lascannons

Sgt. Afreet
5 Devastators w/ veteran sergeant, 4 missile launchers

Brother Connaldar
Techmarine w/ Thunderfire Cannon

The Four Winds
Stormtalon Gunship w/ typhoon missile launcher

Aegis Defense Line w/ Quadgun

Tyranids 1,000 points

Hive Tyrant – Wings + 2x Twin-linked devourers with brainleech worms
Hive Tyrant – Wings + 2x Twin-linked devourers with brainleech worms

10 x Genestealers + Broodlord, all with toxin sacks
21 x Termagants

2 x Zoanthropes

Biovores x 3

As you can probably tell from the lists, the Nids are our aggressive element and my Executioners are fire support, particularly anti-vehicle. However, we do have one theme we hope will give us an advantage: Pinning. Between my snipers, Thunderfire, and Stormtalon, and the Tyranid psychic powers and Biovores, we can force a bunch of Pinning checks.
