Happy New Year Everybody!
Well over the holidays I didn't get a huge amount done due to seeing family and friends but I did manage to finish of Golgfag! I absolutely loved painting him, so many details and fun little parts. I am going to use him in his special character formate but I love the model so much that I am going to find a way to squeeze him into every list I use as a Tyrant, a Bruiser, a Manaeater or even just a bull with two hand weapons! I am particularly happy with the cloak which came out pretty well! Here's how I did it as it was really easy!
I used very thinned down layers of red mixed with Lahmian Medium then washed with carroburg crimson, second thinned down layer of red on raised surfaces. Then picked out very raised bits with thinned red and white mix (this was a shade of pink in truth) then the very extreme edges with mostly white to red mix (very light pink).
Did all this second phase after washing while layers were wet so that they blended together.
Finally I gave the full cloak a glaze using the new GW red glaze. This really made the red vibrant and turned the pinks into lighter reds instead and made the transitions between colours less harsh.
Over the next month and by the end of February I am aiming to paint 6 more maneaters, 2 giants and another Mournfang rider! It should be achievable!
