So as already seen, we've been emailed some stuff on the New Wood Elves via one of my mates in the US.

Here is a link to the Army Special Rules: http://40kwarzone.blogspot.com.au/2014/05/new-wood-elf-rules.html

And the New Magic Items: http://40kwarzone.blogspot.com.au/2014/05/new-wood-elf-magic-items.html

So now it's time for the Special Characters! Durthu and Araloth have already been covered in our Army Special Rules article, so if you want to see them you can jump on over there.

Orion, The King in the Woods:

Orion: M9, WS8, BS8, S6, T5, W5, I9, A5, Ld10
Hound of Orion: M9, WS4, BS0, S4, T4, W1, I4, A1, Ld6

He's a Monster (Special Character). He has ASF, Forest Stalker, Frenzy, Terror, Unbreakable and;

Orion's Equerries: If accompanied by Hounds, they must be deployed as a unit (even though monsters are not normally permitted to join units). Orion cannot leave this unit and cannot join other units.

Hounds have Forest Spirit, Frenzy, Unbreakable.

Magic Items:

Hawk's Talon: Magic Weapon - 30" Range, Str 4, Multiple Shots (6)

Spear of Kurnous: Magic Weapon - Can be used to make shooting attacks with same rules as a Bolt Thrower. Can be made if he moves but not marches. 18" Range, Str 7, Multiple Wounds (D3). Armour saves may not be taken.

Cloak of Isha: Talisman. Grants a 5+ ward save and Magic Resistance (2). At the start of each turn, on the roll of a 6, Orion regains a Wound lost earlier in battle.

Horn of the Wild Hunt: Enchanted Item. At the start of each turn, this horn grants the Devastating Charge special rule to Orion, his unit, and all friendly Wood Elf units within 6". Lasts until the end of that turn.

So he's a bad ass in combat. WS8, 6 attacks due to Frenzy, Str 6 and rerolling to hit due to ASF and his ridiculously high Initiative mean not much will be happy against Orion. Unfortunately, he's ridiculously expensive, and even more so if you include the 2 hounds. I don't see him getting much use due to him not being very durable but I could be wrong - Wood Elves have the ability to pretty much control terrain on the Battlefield so delivering him might not be as challenging as it seems.

-----------------------------

Drycha, Briarmaven of Woe:

M5, WS7, BS5, S4, T4, W3, I7m A4, Ld9. She is Infantry (Special Character)

She's a Level 2 Wizard that uses spells from Shadow.

She has Blessings of the Ancients, Fear, Forest Spirit, Hatred and:

Fanatical Resolve: Each time she suffers a wound, she gets +2 attacks for the remainder of the battle. If she regains a wound lost earlier, her attacks are reduced by 2 for the remainder of the battle.

Roused to Wrath: This cannot be used if there are no forests on the battlefield when it is time to deploy your force. You may choose d3 units wholly composed of models with the Forest Spirit special rule - these are not deployed, but are 'slumbering' somewhere on the battlefield.

At the start of the Remaining Moves phase, roll d6 for each slumbering unit. On a 1-2, nothing happens - roll again next turn. On a 3+, place the unit on the battlefield so all models in the unit are wholly within a forest and 1" away from other units and impassable terrain. Treat units that cannot be placed as having rolled a 1-2. Any units that have not awoken by end game award victory points as if they had been destroyed.

-----------------------------

Naestra & Arahan, The Sisters of Twilight

Both sisters are M5, WS6, BS6, S4, T3, W2, I7, A3, Ld9. They are infantry (Special Character).

They have ASF, Forest Stalker and

Conjoined Destiny: If either of the sisters is slain, do not remove the model from play unless the other sister is also slain in the same phase. If at least one sister has at least 1 wound remaining at the end of the phase, both sisters are restored to their starting number of Wounds - otherwise remove both models. If either sister issues or accepts a challenge, the other can attack (and be attacked) as part of that challenge. Should their mount be slain, the sisters form a unit. They can join other units, but if one twin joins a unit, both must join the unit.

Sisters of Twilight: Naestra's close combat attacks receive a +1 bonus to wound against Forces of Destruction. Arahan's attacks receive a +1 bonus to wound forces of Order.

They MUST be carried into battle by either their Forest Dragon (Caithin-Har) or their Great Eagle (Gwindalor).

Magic Items:

Talon of Dawn (Naestra): Magic Missile Weapon. 30" Range, Str 5, Armour Piercing, Flaming Attacks, Multiple Wounds (d6)

If this weapon causes one or more wounds, Naestra's mount regains a single wound lost earlier in battle. Cannot restore wounds to a slain mount.

Talon of Dusk (Arahan): Magic Missile Weapon. 30" Range, Str 1, Armour Piercing, Multiple Shots (2d6), Poisoned Attacks.

Forest Dragon Ceithin-Har's Profile is M6, WS6, BS0, S6, T6, W6, I3, A5, Ld8 (Monster)

It has Fly, Forest Spirit, Large Target, Scaly Skin (3+), Terror and

Impetuous: If Ceithin-Har can declare a charge, he must do so unless he passes a leadership test (taken on one of the sisters profiles if they are alive).

Soporific Breath: He has a Str 2 Breat Weapon. Armour saves taken against wounds caused by this breath weapon suffer a -3 penalty. All models in units that suffer one or more hits from this breath weapon suffer from Stupidity for the remainder of the game.

Gwindalor's Profile is M2, WS5, BS0, Str 4, T4, W3, I4, A2, Ld8. It's a Monstrous Beast.

It has Fly and

Hunter's Mount: When mounted on Gwindalor, the sisters re-roll all failed to hit rolls when making shooting attacks.

So some pretty cool profiles there - what do you guys think?

Alles gute,
