Hey peoples!

It's time for another classic DIY with yours truly ^_^

Tonight I tried out the airbrush I acquired a while back (a $30 el cheapo humbrol one + $15 for canned air [canned air is so crazy as a concept lol] to begin with) and finally got round to testing it. Why would I use an airbrush for undercoating though when there's spray primer? Well it's:

a) nighttime
b) really really cold outside

Firstly, for any airbrushing indoors I recommend this high-tech and Adeptus Mechanicus approved STC cardboard box.

Lovingly stolen from wikipedia, which has an entry on cardboard boxes.

This highly complicated and sensitive piece of kit will prevent any wayward spraying, thus reducing any mess and confine it to a small location that can easily accommodate any number of The Emperor's Finest(tm) inside it. I also recommend using Mars-pattern masking tape to seal any gaps in this STC cardboard box in order to truly make it a nigh-impenetrable airbrushing fortress! Muahahahahaha!!!

*ahem*

Secondly if you're hell-bent on using acrylics and not enamels, you won't need a thinner EXCEPT good ol' Mr. Dihydrogen monoxide, which is water, for you non-science people ;)
I have no experience whatsoever with enamels and am not about to start so cannot offer any advice or Derping in that regard.

After that, you need to SECURELY fasten down the miniatures that you want to spray. I learned this the hard way with my first spray run shooting goblins down to the back of the box.

Blu-tack or masking tape prevents Derping.
A fix for this is either blu-tack or masking tape (which you should have on hand- it is an invaluable hobby tool). It's always good to do a test spray first, but I like to get stuck in! Plus mistakes get to become a DIY- Derp It Yerself article :P. The hobby needs more people posting about mishaps, lol.

Oh noes! Those poor goblins!
Seriously though, secure those blighters otherwise you'll be playing "chase the miniature with the airbrush" all night. Not my idea of fun & entertainment...
Masking tape flipped upside down with a curl-over at each end should do the trick as you can place each mini on the tap and it'll stick firmly. Blu-tack probably would work better but the masking tape was on hand.
Now they look pretty swanky in chaos black

Also, with vehicles, I'd recommend wholeheartedly to wait til morning then spray them as this Leman Russ looks like he had a helluva lot of oil dropped on him :/

Another classic derp -_- should've stuck with the spray can in the daytime
I'd write some sort-of witty thing here, but I have work in a few hours (night shift, yaaay)
