This sunday was the Eternal Warriors Invitational tournament at the Gamers Lair in Barrie Ontario. It was an 1850 pt competitive event that ran a NOVA style mission format. 4 rounds two and a half hours per round. I took a very (in my oppinion) boring Dark Eldar with Eldar allies min/max style list. And at 8 am the games started! Here is a quick recap:

This was the army that I brought, so many things they did not even fit on my display board!

So, Game 1 was played against CJ and his Iron Hands Space Marines. His list was a bully captain with sternguard in a pod, tacs in a pod, tacs in a rhino, dev squad, assault squad, scout squad and two thunderfire cannons. The NOVA mission we played was an objective based mission. This game I stole the initiative on my opponent and this allowed me to drop a thunderfire right at the start, and then focus on the units I needed to while denying the drop pod alpha strike. I was able to ignore the sternguard in the late game baiting them to the backfield and then moving away from them.

Game 2, I played Fred and his highly tuned Necron army:

The mission was an interesting one called gamblers or investors. We both chose to “invest” points in the objectives, basically having to control and objective to make it worth +1 pt up to a max of +3. I was able to hold back the onslaught and played to the mission as much as I could, and although my army got -shot to hell- I was able to pull out a WIN! when the game ended turn 5.

And then game 3. Was against Tim and his Eldar beefed up Dark Eldar beastpack. wow. What a beating I took! I shall be talking more in depth in the tactical review of the game, but that beastpack just ate everything up. Here is the army:

With vanguard strike deployment I was pent up in my corner, and a great turn one of shooting saw my opponent kill 5 of my venoms, and then it went down hill from there. Just to give you an idea of the pressure this 30 model unit that moves 12″ up does, and was invisible, and could have a 3+ invul.

Game 4. I played Craig and his Tau. Did not get a pic of his army, but the mission was killpoints. I went first, and my entire army shot at the broadsides… and then it went down hill from there! I was able to gain 13 killpoints from him and he got 6 from me! So that was another game in the bag.

All in all this was a great event. The Terrain was great! The missions were challenging and the opponents all top notch! At the end, I came second overall with the Dark Eldar. (one point under first, that was Tim and his Beastpack) And won best painted! Im glad I did all that work on the army, although there is still a lot of work to do.

Well! Thats all I have for today. Thanks for reading.

Skari - out.
PS- My friend Pete has challenged me to an ice bucket for als! So, I know what im doing tmr.
