Down with the naysayers! Negativity Begets Negativity. Irony in and of itself really.

So! The New Codex has been pretty much leaked page for page. And, I (skari) am VERY excited about the new release. I chatted a bit about the rumours during this saturdays podcast, and I am very excited to chat about the new book in the next weeks as I get accustomed to the new way to play the dark kin. I am also going to say that its not 9 foundatinos of vengeance, it is 13! Lol, and each one even has a specifiv battle stance that vect has put into place into the Dark City lore and political structure. SO! Here are my pre-initial (note this specificity) impressions of the codex release. Of course, these are STILL considered “rumours” untill the book is officially released on saturday.

The Hits of the Book:
- General Point decreases, on almost EVERYTHING, kabalites (-1pt) scourge and reaver jetbikes (-6pts), mandrakes (-4pts) Incubi (-2pts) and the list goes on and on!
- New ways to use units and wargear. WWP changed, Mandrakes and reave jetbikes changed, beastpack changed, court of the archon changed. SHADOW FIELD! you have NO idea, as a long time dark eldar player how much the shadowfield working till the end of the phase that it de activates is SUCH a great thing. So many times have my opponents peppered him with bolters in the shooting phase to knock him out with an autocannon (or similar scenario) NO MORE!. lol
- Scourge! - 5 models, 4 heavy weapons… awesome. I think these guys are the new ravager. With the point cost decrease, the better armour save and haywire blasters being better at AT than lances…
- Taloi and Chronos - The units of 1-3, fnp stock… I have used them before, as singles and now see a lot of potential! I love it. They are tough, can deal out the pain, and really support the dark eldar assault well.
- Grotesques - These guys went from good, to awesome. Same points, but gained! They all have really cool claws, still access to liquifiers, no longer blow up… whats not to like?
- Power From Pain! - I think the hidden gem of this book will be null deployment dark eldar lists… that use an autarch to stay off the table untill the main PfP effects start to take place.

The “Meh” of the book:
- Raiders, Razorwing and Ravager come stock with the dissintegrators and have to pay a small cost for each lance… I saw that comming, but I am not too fussed about it, the general decrease of points all across the board balances it out.
- Splinter Cannon went to salvo. Saw this one comming as well… meh adapt and overcome I guess. Its funny because the point increase that they got is more than balanced out by the drop in points of kabalites.
- No haywires for wyches… well. Sad to see this go, but i can see why they did it. They dont want a 60 point unit of wyches taking any tank out in one round of combat.
- Changes to the combat drugs. Now giving just a generic stats boost, this is ok, i will love having T5 reavers and t4 wyches! Yay.

The Puzzles? - Note these are not BAD, they are just a why? and will have to work with them, find out the dynamic.

- No Ap 2 weapons for archons. Interesting. Also, no combat drugs for the archon… maybe that would be too good?
- Only power swords and restriction on venom blades. (aww, I loved having venomblades everywhere)
- All the special characters gone, really… including Vect. I wont leave any sleep over it, but I am puzzled. Live and let live I guess.

Anyhow. That is all for now! Thanks a lot for reading. What are your thoughts?
Skari - out

PS! - I was in Mexico all week. Just got back, hence the lack of posts. Thanks for your patience.
