Armed with a small pallet of colors and some big brushes I got to work shading my previous layers of airbrushed basecoats...


I don't have break down of colors like usual because this one was a very quick and organic process just doing what felt right. That is really the best approach when working on natural subject matter as over thinking it can give the piece a very man made, uniform look.
 Now of course that is very dark and i'll have to come back to add some nice highlights. The next step however is pigments. Dirt just needs to look... dirty.
 Almost there, but while things set I did a little work on the RT era marines...
 Those'll get shaded back too eventually and have some nice battle damage etc. This is a good place to stop and nurse my flu :)
