...and there was light. And I saw that the light was good; and I separated the light from the darkness. Ok, so that's about all the biblical reference I can handle in one post without bursting into flame. In a previous post I wrote about dipping my toes into the water of magnifying lamps to see if they could make things a little easier for me in the long term and am happy to say that they have. So now I've graduated to a much larger clamp mounted version that I got from Jaycar Electronics. It has a much larger viewing area and when it's not in use I simply push it up and out of the way.

Now, going back to my teen years I had this lamp that clamped to my desk but I never really like the way it looked, then all these years later I couldn't get them fast enough to be able to light my work spaces from the angles I wanted.

This is where I do most of my modelling work and painting. The magnifying lamp is right beside me to the left of this photo. I got this lamp from Officeworks and picked up another one today.

So here's the one I bought today for the desk at the back of the room which is where I work on the larger scenes and do most of my spraying and base coating. Finally I can see what I'm doing.
On a personal note, that plate hanging on the wall is a relic from my childhood. The ship is the Cutty Sark and the plate hung on the wall of my grand parents living room. My grandfather gave me the plate the day of my grandmothers funeral and to me it's a symbol of many happy family gatherings, massive Christmas dinners and conversations with wisdom that gave clarity.

So there it is. Much more light and much less eye strain.
