At a games show a few months ago I came across some miniatures that seemed to have stepped right out of  Flash Gordon movie. These models where created by a company called Hydra Miniatures  and I decided to take a look at what they had to offer before sharing it with you good people...

War Rocket is a spaceship combat game that consists of five factions all of which are heavily inspired by 1960's sci-fi, just take a look at some of the pictures, they explain it better than my words ever could...

There is also a rule book available for $25 and includes all the usual space combat goodness you could hope for including rules to upgrade your rockets with force fields, lucky pilots and much more!

Retro Raygun is another game by Hydra Miniatures and seems to be set in the same universe as War Rocket as it shares a couple of the same factions. Included in this game is a heroic human (mostly) faction, amazonian space woman faction, gribbly alien faction and robot faction. They all have a distinctive retro aesthetic that really lets them stand out from the crowd. Sadly, having had a look through the online store, I cant find a rule book so it seems that at this point Retro Raygun is just a miniatures line.

There are also very limited ranges for some 28mm prehistoric fantasy and 15mm alien models...

Since Hydra Miniatures have not written on their own blog since 2008 but don't despair as Hydra is still working away on new miniatures. Check out their Facebook page HERE to check out what they doing.

So if you like the look of the miniatures why not visit the Hydra Miniatures website HERE...
