The second game of Hero for a Day was a Kill Team mission.

The Kill team set up was 200 pts to spend on your force. No 2+ armour saves, no flyers and certain vehicles were disallowed. The mission was Covert Strike. You scored a point for each enemy model you killed that was within 6" of the table centre and one point for each of your models within 6" of the board centre at the end of the game. Three of your kill team were specialists and could be given certain special rules.

My White Scars would be taking on Jack and his Sisters of Battle kill team.

My kill team consisted of:
Biker- Power Sword, Rage (B1)
Biker (B2)
Biker (B3)
Scout Biker- Grenade Launcher (SB1)
Scout Biker- Grenade Launcher (SB2)
Scout Biker (SB3)
Scout- Bolter (S3)
Scout- Bolter (S4)
Scout- Combat weapon and bolt pistol, Fleshbane (S1)
Scout- Combat weapon and bolt pistol (S2)
Scout- Camo Cloak, Sniper Rifle, Shred (SS)

I decided to go for my numbers with my Kill Team. Bikers and Scout Bikers would be great, giving mobility and toughness for the force. I also took 5 Scouts with a variety of weapons, including a sniper rifle and camo cloak.

Jack's kill team consisted of:
Sister- Meltagun, Ignores Cover (S2)
Sister- Meltagun, Infiltrate (S11)
Sister- Bolter, Fleshbane (S3)
7 Sisters- Bolters (S4-10)
Immolator- Twin-linked Multi-melta (I)

Jack won the roll for deployment and chose to go first. He deployed three Sisters on the right flank and left flank, with the Immolator in the centre, holding three of the Sisters.

I deployed the Sniper Scout in cover, with my Bikers and Scouts on my left flank. Jack won the roll for Infiltrate and put his infiltrating Sister in the centre. I put my Scout bikers on the right flank, but just forward from my regular bikers.
Deployment.

I failed to seize and Jack took the first turn.

TURN 1

The leader of the Sisters of Battle Kill Team gave the order to advance. On the left flank, the Sisters picked their way through the ruins, while one the left flank, the three members of the squad advanced towards the centre. The Immolator moved forward up on the White Scars.

The three sisters on the left flank fired at a Scout Biker, but failed to wound. The Immolator snap fired at the Bikers, but failed to hit.

The White Scars responded to the advance, the Scout Bikers moving to engage the Sisters of Battle in front of them. The Bikes and Scouts moved up towards the centre of the Battlefield.

The Scouts carrying the bolters opened fire at the Sister in front of them, killing her with their bolters. The Scout Bikers fired at the squad in front of them, killing two with their grenade launchers. The Sniper Scout fired at the Immolator, but his fire proved ineffective.

At the end of the first turn, the White Scars had taken out three of the enemy kill team for no loss. However, there was little in their arsenal that could hope to take out the enemy tank easily.

VICTORY POINTS:
Sisters of Battle- 0
White Scars- 0

TURN 2

The Immolator moved up towards the central objective, the squad inside disembarking to target the White Scars. The rest of the ground forces advanced.

One meltagun sister fired at a biker, killing him as her weapon ignored cover. The other two fired at another biker with their bolters, but failed to cause any harm. The Immolator fired at a Biker, but failed to wound the White Scar.

On the left flank, the Sister killed one of the Scout Bikers with her bolter. The other squad of three on the right flank ran towards the centre of the battlefield to support their comrades.

The White Scars responded, the Scouts on foot advancing on the objective. The Scout bikers moved up on the lone Sister in front of them.

The two bikers fired at the meltagun Sister, but failed to cause any wounds. The Scout Bikers fired at the lone Sister, but failed to wound her with their shots.

The White Scars decided to assault their foe. The Scout bikers charged into the Sister, their hammer of wrath attacks killing her outright. The Biker leader assaulted the meltagun Sister, killing her with his Power weapon. One of the combat Scouts assaulted another Sister in the centre, killing her before she could strike back.

This turn, I scored two points for killing two models within 6" of the board centre.

VICTORY POINTS:
Sisters of Battle- 0
White Scars- 2

TURN 3

The Sisters of Battle continued to advance on the centre of the battlefield. The Immolator fired at the Biker Sergeant, obliterating him with its melta fire. The three Sisters of Battle in the centre fired at the combat Scout, killing him with their bolters.

The Scout Bikers moved towards the centre of the battlefield, while the Scouts continued to advance. A Scout fired at a Sister, killing her with their bolters. The Scout Bikers fired at the Immolator, but failed to cause any damage. A Scout Biker and Scout assaulted one of the Sisters, killing her in combat.

VICTORY POINTS:
Sisters of Battle- 3
White Scars- 5

TURN 4

A Sister fired at one of the Scouts, killing him with their Bolter. The Immolator fired at a Scout Biker, but the Jinking biker saved the wound.

The White Scars advanced on the remaining Sisters of Battle. The final biker attempted to assault the Sister, but was cut down by overwatch fire as he advanced. The Scouts charged the Immolator, but failed to cause any harm in combat.

VICTORY POINTS:
Sisters of Battle- 5
White Scars- 5

TURN 5

The last surviving Sister fired at a Scout Biker, killing him.

The White Scars returned fire on her, killing the last member of the squad

VICTORY POINTS:
Sisters of Battle- 6
White Scars- 6

END OF THE GAME

The last two turns saw me trying to kill off the Immolator. I managed to put one hull point on it, but failed to destroy it by turn 7. In return, the Immolator was unable to kill off any more models. I scored 3 points for holding the objective with 3 models at the end of the game.

End of the game.

VICTORY POINTS:
Sisters of Battle- 6
White Scars- 9

AFTER-BATTLE THOUGHTS
I think this was my first Kill Team game ever and I quite enjoyed it.

I think my Kill Team was pretty strong. Bikers are going to be tough for most infantry to deal with thanks to their toughness. I also get a boost in combat with their Hammer of Wrath attacks, which helped me cause a few wounds during the game.

I liked the mission, it forced you to be aggressive and not just sit back and shoot at your opponent.

With two games down, it was approaching 6 am and I was keen to get going again (if only to stop me falling asleep!).
