Tits for Tournaments: Top ITC Tournament Lists April 2016

Warning

Tits for Tournaments is rated factually opinionated. Expect results, army lists, and some light bitching about boring spam lists to follow.

Before we get to the lists click on the link below to see the past and future large events for the ITC 2016 Circuit.

Blood of Kittens attempts to provide continued coverage of all the large ITC events in a monthly post showcasing all the top army lists we can find.

This particular post chronicles the large events of April 2016. April continues a string of large events held west of the Mississippi.

April saw three Major Events and two GTs.

The first GT of April 2016 happened over the first weekend, April 1st-3rd with Grotscon in Alberta, Canada. It produced the following top three winners.

  1. Lukash Chewsky 1st Overall Grotscon 2016
  2. Philip Harlos 2nd Overall Grotscon 2016
  3. Arthur Zubrack Oliver 3rd Overall Grotscon 2016

The next event didn’t happen until April 15th-17th. It was a Midwest Major Event the Flying Monkey GT. There was a bit of drama at this event as a top contender had an illegal list, luckily it was caught and it didn’t really effect the final standings. If you are interesting Flying Monkey did a great job compiling lists, with the Top 8 here.

  1. Matt Root 1st Overall Flying Monkey GT 2016
  2. Cyle Thompson 2nd Overall Flying Monkey GT 2016
  3. Steven Heitmeyer 3rd Overall Flying Monkey GT 2016

The following weekend April 23rd-24th we had the Storm of Silence which I attended in Spokane, Washington at Gamer’s Haven.

  1. Jeremy Veysseire 1st Overall Storm of Silence 2016
  2. Ben Schimmoller 2nd Overall Storm of Silence 2016
  3. Ben Cromwell 3rd Overall Storm of Silence 2016

The last weekend of April finished with the venerable Broadside Bash, held in San Diego, California. This event also had some illegal list issues.

  1. James Carmona 1st Overall Broadsidebash 2016
  2. Julio Rodriguez 2nd Overall Broadside Bash 2016
  3. Thomas Oakey 3rd Overall Broadside Bash 2016

Those are the top lists for the month April. As you can see I am missing a few lists, if you anyone can get a hold of the missing lists email Blood of Kittens right away! As well, some events which were slated for GT or Major status didn’t make the player cut, so they were not included in the April totals or reports.

Let us take a moment to comment about the continued epidemic of illegal lists cropping up at events. Flying Monkey and the Broadside Bash had problems. Even with both cases seemly being resolved amicable, it is very important players especially “elite” players take army construction seriously! The game is complicated, but not so much a little extra time cannot be taken to find errors and whatnot. It is also very important events do some sort of list check throughout the event. It isn’t good enough to just check them beforehand, do it on the second day of an event even if it is just for the top players. Easier said than done, right? Whatever the solution it currently seems like list offenders are not doing these sorts of things intentionally. Though, if certain player patterns start to developed, Blood of Kittens will do it’s traditional role of calling folks out for bad behavior.

Back to fun things, below is the current beadown of what armies are winning events. The breakdown combines all events for the year, taking the top three winners for each major and GT event.

  • 10 Eldar
  • 4 Tau
  • 3 Daemon
  • 3 Space Marine
  • 2 Chaos Space Marines
  • 1 Dark Angel
  • 1 Tyranid
  • 1 Ad-Mech
  • 1 Harlequin

If you want to see more lists broken down by army you can always check out the 7th Edition Top Army List Compendium. As you can see Eldar are still dominating; unlike earlier in the year, April had a lot more variation and no Eldar took the top spot in any large event.

See you again here next month as we get a ton of more events added for ITC 2016 season!
