BoK Reviews: White Dwarf Issue #124
White Dwarf Issue #125: Children of Asuryan
White Dwarf reviews operate differently than other Blood of Kittens Reviews. The goal with these reviews is to place a value for each issue. The rating system is one to four stars, each star represents $1 in value, to a max of four dollars. The review values are also Warhammer 40k based; Age of Sigmar dedicated issues will still be reviewed, but valued for Warhammer 40k players. It means you could see many low valued issues, where a general Games Workshop hobbyist actually valuing them more. Keep this in mind when deciding if a particular White Dwarf Issue is good for you.
Contents: New Releases
Now with word of White Dwarf going back to a monthly publication, it makes a lot of sense considering how terrible most issues have been for the last month or so. Releasing this week are two Start Collecting sets for Dark Eldar and Eldar, these are good deals and in the case of Eldar you get the Jetbikes which is pretty fantastic! Black Library is releasing Angels of Caliban which gives us insight into the future betrayal of the Dark Angels will experience.
Contents: Paths of the Eldar
This interesting, condensed Eldar history as described by Jes Goodwin, delivers the Eldar story from a design perspective from how they evolved from just Space Pirates to the rich history we read now.
What is GW saying?
Released June, 18th 2016
Contents: Illuminations The Eldar
Here is some Eldar art we have all seen before and is nothing more than filler.
Contents: Readers’ Models
Various readers take the time to send in there best, with this collection being pretty darn impressive. My favorite is from Thilo Engels who converted a Taurox and Kataphron making an impressive model.
Contents: The Unquiet Dead
Here is an Undead army by Andrew King, the models are not particular good looking and have a very generic studio feel. What makes this section even lamer is GW obvious ratfucking their own article by claiming Andrew got painting inspiration from really shitty Sigmar audio dramas, like it is going to trick people into buying them.
Contents: The Week In…
More Eldar, more attempts at selling product and thus it wouldn’t be the week in White Dwarf without it.
Next Issue Hint: More Pointy Ears and Flyer Aces. Te Sky’s the Limit!
Final Verdict
Issue #125 nothing worth your time or money and nothing you haven’t seen before over and over.
