Ok, now that everyone has had a week to calm down a bit over the new Tyranids, with all the grief stages being displayed, it is time to put them to the test. I like this new codex, it gets rid of all the gimmicks and crutches Nid players have been using for the last year. It feels like a real dex, though a little on the bland side, I will grant the naysayers that. Still, everything got really cheap! It is the sort of thing where on the surface you get caught up looking at stats and abilities and not the costs savings making the real difference. It means play-testing becomes really important, so I decided to test in a super charged environment.
I am going to Seattle for the TSHFT where I make the pilgrimage every year it seems. It is a competitive event, and I usual have good results, at least when I practice my list beforehand. This time I won’t have that luxury, but at the very least I gauge how playable Tyranids are. The meta up in Seattle is typically very shooty so I plan on getting the worse of the worse when it comes to armies I am facing. This does also mean posting will be light for the next five days, but I am sure you all can handle it.
As for the list, this is what I am currently going to take…
Hive Tyrant: Twin-Linked Devourer with Brainleech worms x2, Hive Commander, Wings
Hive Tyrant: Twin-Linked Devouer with Brainleech worms x2, Wings
Tervigon: Regeneration, The Norn Crown
Hormaguant Brood: x3 10-man
Termagant Brood: 30-man with x25 Devourers
Zoanthrope Brood: 1 x 2
Venomthrope Brood: 1 x 1
Mawloc: x 3
Aegis Line with Comm Relay
= 1750 pts
Things around the edges could change. Hope to at least win a few games and report back my findings. I do have my own personal goals I want to fill. They all revolve around killing Coteaz and Broadsides with Mawlocs, here is to hoping!
