Network News: 2015 November-December GW Market Watch
Warning
Network News is rated: trending land of make believe importance for this blog
Watching stocks over the short-term is often an experiment in futility; on Dec 9th 2015 we looked back at the state of Games Workshop’s stock price and general financial health.
We are finally out of the holidays and things are just starting to back to normal for everyone. As for GW though, it is time for the one of their annual reports which is set for release on January 12th. This article will be just a little preview and snapshot of where GW stands before the all important report. The sad part, is global events might derail any true impact the report might have, because China is currently sending the world in a tailspin.
In the meantime, let us look at the stock at the start of the new year.
Global stocks had an up and down december, and that was before the kneecapping taking place in this first full week of January. Luckily, for GW with homegrown products and China infinitesimal marketshare should shield them a bit. If anything China’s crash helps in an odd way, as counterfeiters might have a harder time copying their products.
Anyway, let us see where the stock stands over the last month or so.
Amazingly the stock is flat, but you can see the steep dip the stock has experienced over the last few days, this could be investors with large portfolios moving from simple stocks to things like commodities which are typical safe havens in these sorts of macro situations.
How though did GW do over the course of the entire year of 2015?
Amazingly, against all odds (well odds according to the Internet haters) GW stock price is up almost 20% since the beginning of 2015! This is a pretty dramatic turnaround even if you include some still fundamental problems they face with revenue and profit margins. Sometimes we still have to be reminded GW makes money and doesn’t hold any appreciable debt.
So now we wait for next week. The report always generates a lot of interest and I will be reporting on it (hopefully) when it happens. In the meantime, if you cannot get enough of Games Workshop financial health, DakkaDakka has a thread going in anticipation of the report. If you handle the dripping haterade it is for you, no matter it is a very entertaining read.
