This was an utter chore to paint, should have painted the crew separate , the gunners look a bit arse subsequently , damn thing just hoovered hours, had hoped to get two things done this weekend, this ran through to todays painting time .
Oh well, one step closer , 8 KP’s down 10 to go, should see half way by Friday , then we are down to one Month, It’s going to be tight.
Yet another great piece of inspirational painting added to your army. Your colours are so smooth I just have to ask, are you airbrushing any of the models or is everything we see pure bristle work? Regardless of the answer, colour me impressed. Can’t wait to see the “family picture”.
Will you be moddeling and painting the flightstands?
Army is shaping very nicely and is looking prety sweet so far!
Hey thanks, nope no air brush I’m afraid just hard graft, cant honestly say I’m looking forward to doing the second one….
Currently trying to work out how to take a full army picture,I dont have the lighting or a box big enough.
Spekkie, currently no plans to do the flight stands, I quite like it as is, though if the consensus is that it needs doing It’ll prob end up being after Tos.
Cheers
Nice stuff, that looks really really clean, and the lack of spikes looks good!
How do you get the colours looking so natural??
Also how did you get that effect on the engines?
Lol, not sure what you mean by natural, lurid green and glowing red aint exactly natural…
The engines are just tin bitz, then add some mithril to tin bitz to lighten it, this gets what can only be described as a ‘zenithal overbrush’ I then tidy up the shade areas with tin bitz, after that its just sharp pure mithril highlights, but only the edges that would catch light.
Probably sounds like complete nonsense, lol
Very nice indeed
Not so much the colours but how you apply them, the overall effect is the colours look natural, I’ve been finding mine you can tell I’ve basically done a brush stroke for a highlight, or a detail. The transition seems really really smooth.
Will have to try that engine painting technique this weekend!
P.S. do you use a dull coat or some form of finisher?
Hi,
The smooth transition is just using watered down paint, hard to physically explain the consistency but what it means is that it may take a pass or two to get a solid line, however this lets you control how much fade and how sharp the line is by only making successive passes where the light would catch on edges, I hope that makes sense.
These photos are taken without varnish as varnish screws with the photos, would normaly use dullcote but it will kill all the metals so have been thinking about a satin varnish for this army.
wow- you’ve been busy lately!
Looking good!
Yessir Busy me , 6 Reavers coming soon. will hit half way tomorrow in terms of KP’s
Only one month ish left in terms of time, hopefully I’ll hit 10 or 11 this weekend which should leave me clear enough time….
What is the recipe for that awesome black color? Is only black primer? How do you achieve this amazing look?
