My local games club, Full On Assault, has been running a Dreadball league over the past few weeks. We have an interesting mix of teams including Orx, Robots, Z'zor, Female Corp and Forge Fathers.
I decided to use the Veer-myn as although I have never had much luck with them in the past I just cant get enough of the rats. We started the league with twenty million to spend on our fledgling teams so I spent mine on three coaching dice and was surprised at how much more effective the team became. The striker's poor skill of 5+ became less of an issue when I had extra dice to use for the really important rolls and I managed to easily win my first game against the "Deadpool Corps"! After my initial success I poured more money into getting as many coaching dice as I could get my grubby little paws on and managed to achieve landslide wins in my next four games. The skill table has also been kind to me with my star striker gaining an increase to his skill and lucky although he has attracted a lot of attention now from my opponents guards so when I rolled a 6 on the extra coaching table after my last game I chose "grizzled" to help him stay alive.

W.I.P Veer-myn team.

I am really impressed with the league rules, the underdog bonuses are fun to play around with and because the game is quick to play it isn't difficult to fit in at lest one round on a club night.
Here are my three favorite moments from the league so far...

3. Watching a player roll four dice to make a game winning strike and needing only one 4+. As the dice landed he covered them with his hands to increase the suspense  he started to laugh and lifted his hands to reveal four 1's.

2. One of the most comical moments of the league was when a team of Forge Fathers where getting pummeled by Buzzcut, after a few rushes of players getting injured or killed the entire team ran off the pitch and hid in the subs bench! As Buzzcut approached them in an attempt to hinder any players entering the pitch three Dwarves jumped out and killed the poor Ogre! Not very sporting i am sure you will agree.

1. Witnessing the killing spree of a rank one Z'zor guard as he tore apart two humans in the first two actions of the game, by the final rush he had killed five players! Watch out for those bugs!

Tom and Tom go head to head in one of the opening games of the league.

I have to get back to training my team of sneaky rats but I will be back before the end of October to let you know how the League goes...

See ya.
