I am still to play a game of 40K with the new edition, but the boys and I did have a swing at each other this afternoon in a pitched 40K for Kids battle.

As always, my forces were a conglomeration of this and that (because all that matters in 40K for Kids is cool factor).  While the boys plotted my undoing, I took a snapshot of three oldtimers.

The fellow on the left is an old Inquisitor model with a bionic leg.  I've always liked that figure, though my paint job hasn't exactly stood the test of time.  His armor features cheesy hash lines (for heretics purged!) on his leg and the words "Emperor's Fist" on his fist (of course) written using a black technical pen.  I was so young then.

The middle halfling I just named Grommin Butterfoot.  He served as a pirate captain for several Mordheim warbands, accompanied by his trusty chicken B'Gawk.  The chicken itself came from the top of a halfling standard, as I recall.

Finally, on the right, there's half of a pair from one of WFB's Regiments of Renowned.  He's such a characterful model that deserves a better paint job than I managed years ago.

I miss some of the old classics GW made, low run models, for sure.

They didn't help me win, though.  Back then, or today.
