Today we're going to talk about building fluffy Space Wolves characters, the one thing I believe the Space Wolves do better than any other army out there. Due to our wolffy nature of individualism Space Wolves players have the ability to make some really fantastic load outs from many of our multiple kit. This leads to some modeling that can be extremely fun to play, visually interesting, but also effective on the battlefield. You can use our many options of not only weaponry but Character types to create a lot of variety for the model you construct.

Warning! Math Hammer aside, these builds are about the finding the spirit of Russ in our characters, not necessarily breaking down the most point strict theory of equipment.  Sometimes you just want a Frost Axe, and that's fine.  Run your unit as you RUN YOUR UNIT!  Don't listen to the math junkie (all the time), sometimes it feels good to make a beat-stick model that can go crazy in that legendary match of fisticuffs!

Auðun Bloodfist, of the Young King's Great Company

This is Auðun Bloodfist, his model was original built as part of a Bloodclaw squad, mixed with additional bits from the Thunderwolf box-set, and the cape from Krom Dragongaze. I plan on running him either as a Wolf Guard battle leader, or possibly as a Lone Wolf, depending on my mood.

In the back story I associate with him, Auðun was once the only surviving member of his pack, which was lost on a recon mission. The pack was hunted down by a nasty Nurgle-tainted xeno predator who was systematically killing off the members of Auðun’s pack. Auðun was unable to save the bodies or geneseed of any of his brothers, as the pack had to keep moving forward. As each of his brothers fell, Auðun removed a piece of their gear, weaponry, or armor, replacing his own as needed. Auðun and the last remaining member of his pack where able to reach their extraction point, but were cut off by their foe. Auðun and his pack brother were able to defeat their enemy, but when the smoke cleared all Auðun could see was the reflective glow of his Power Fist in the dead eyes of his last fallen pack mate. Auðun recovered his brother’s body, and power axe, and left the hellish planet behind, starting on his path as a Lone Wolf.

For years Auðun neither spoke nor drank with his brother wolves, and for decades he never returned to the Fang.  Prior to every battle Auðun would ritualistically say the name of every lost pack member while donning each of their pieces of equipment, which had become powerful totems for the ferocious Lone Wolf.  Finally, during a battle to defend a planetary system from invasion by forces of Nurgle, Auðun went head to head with a Deamon Prince, slaying the beast before falling himself.

When he awoke in triage, his vision focused on the grizzled face of Ulrik the Slayer. Ulrik's head turned, his words unintelligible in Auðun's disoriented state.  A younger face walked forward and slowly came into focus. Ragnar Blackmane spoke: "You were dead on the field of battle, I witnessed it myself!" "Yet, Grandfather Lupus has ensured me that you are clean of any corruption." "So either, you have more threads to cut, or you're just too much of a stubborn son of a Snow Troll to die!" "Regardless, your days fighting alone are over, your honor is clean Wolf Guard!" Auðun looked up at Ragnar, his single good eye unblinking, and let out one moan of a word: "Mjod!" The Young King let out a bellowing laugh and slapped Auðun on the shoulder. "Someone get this Troll a drink!"

Sæbjörn Frostborne
This model was also designed to be able to function as either a Wolf Guard Battle Leader or Lone Wolf.  Using bits from the Space Wolves Upgrade pack, Krom Dragongaze and Wolf Guard Terminator box-set head.

Sæbjörn Frostborne was a potent swordsman even as a young tribesman, prior to being chosen by the Sky Warrior to join the ranks of the Space Wolves.  What do you think his tale is?  Help me tell his saga by leaving a comment below!
