Although I haven't updated the blog in a while, it's been a manic few weeks of painting and other things. January always seems to be like this for me! Ah well, I'm certainly going to make sure that I updated the various projects I've been working on over the last few weeks.

One of my clients has commissioned a force of Chaos Space Marines for his existing army. I'm going to be painting 20 Raptors, two Maulerfiends, and a Hellbrute. As I usually do, I started with the infantry...

These guys were painted with a Khorne Red base, shaded with Nuln Oil, highlighted with Evil Sunz Scarlet. The red is nice and deep; overall, the scheme reminds me a lot of the Crimson Slaughter, which is no bad thing.

Metallics were done with Leadbelcher, washed with Nuln Oil and then highlighted with Runefang Steel. The trim is Brass Scorpion, more Nuln Oil and then Runefang. Both recipes give a nice and grubby metallic result.

The eyes don't really come out very well on these images, but they are done with a Teclis Blue base. The eyes are very deep-set and small, unlike say the modern Tactical Marines (which also seem more heavily-proportioned than the Raptors and some of the other Chaos lines).

A shot of the jump packs. I've added very small amounts of chipping to the turbines, which is difficult to see here, but generally adds a bit of interest to the backpacks.
