One of the great things about the Indy GT Circuit as it has progressed is we are now able to track events and players over years. With the The Conflict GT we have an interesting case of a winner winning the event for the second year in a row. What is more impressive is he has done it with two different armies.
Last year Andrew Gonyo won with Imperial Guard with this list.

This year he moved from one flavor of the month army to the next and took Grey Knights. His Grey Knight I have to say has more style points than his previous cookie cutter IG list.
Conflict GT 2012 Over Winner Andrew Gonyo’s Grey Knights
The event had a total of 43 participants. The Conflict GT also marked the first GT to allow Necrons so it good to see seven Necron players show up. Necrons even took 2nd overall behind Andrew with a Scarab Traveler lead list. As you may have guessed the number one army played was Grey Knights with around eight participants. Expect this trend to continue.
Here is a full break down of the armies.
Grey Knights: 8
Space Marines: 8
Necrons: 7
Blood Angels: 5
Dark Eldar: 3
Daemons: 2
Tyranids: 2
Imperial Guard: 1
Dark Angels: 2
Sisters: 1
Space Wolves: 1
Tau: 1
Eldar: 1
Orks: 1
You cannot make a trend or take away much from one event, but I have noticed that ever since the Grey Knights codex there has been a precipitous drop in Space Wolves players and Imperial Guard the Conflict GT only adds to that trend.
As for coverage of the event on other sites and forums here are some good links.

I couldn’t find any good pictures of the event so if anyone knows a good link please leave a comment!
The rest of January is a dry for GTs but expect a butt load of events for February with GottaCon being next. To see a full list with links and dates head on over to the Blood of Kittens Tournament site.
Tournament Calendar
That list ecapsulates nearly everything that is wrong with the GK book, based on the guard list its the logical next step in the 40k ‘arms race’
Can’t blame the man for putting it together.
I was walking around a tourney on sunday and saw several clones of that IG list, at leadt four of them were playing each other, one one table, much to my amusement both armies were exactly the same colour and were essentially impossible to tell apart for the casual observer.
I like neither list, no art, subtlty or originality, not a shred..
I’m internet famous!
The funny thing is the way the GW release cycle works. My 4 armies are, and have been for about the last 12-13 years: Eldar, IG, Daemonhunters, Necrons
When they get a new book, naturally, I want to update and revisit the army I’ve previously moved on from. This year is my chance to revisit Daemonhunters, so, I put together that list, and lo and behold, bandwagon and flavor of the month! I’ve decided to just not update my Necrons, as I’m tired of the “flavor of the month” comments, which is sad since, you know, I have an entire army and am leaving it in a box to avoid undue annoyance. I’ll play GK for the forseeable future, and in 3-4 years I’ll once again be getting the “you play GK’s…oh…you’re a brave man” that was once garnered for playing DH.
Oh well, it’s a fun list to play, and I find the more deviation from Psyfledreads/Psybacks, the more fun I have with the list. Expect to see an updated, slightly more odd list (I’ve been testing a second raven and/or a dreadknight!) for SVDM at 1850 from me. Who knows, maybe I’ll manage a repeat there as well!
