BoK Reviews: White Dwarf Issue #117
White Dwarf Issue #117: Ihe Great Waaagh! Begins
White Dwarf reviews operate differently than other Blood of Kittens Reviews. The goal with these reviews is to place a value for each issue. The rating system is one to four stars, each star represents $1 in value, to a max of four dollars. The review values are also Warhammer 40k based; Age of Sigmar dedicated issues will still be reviewed, but valued for Warhammer 40k players. It means you could see many low valued issues, where a general Games Workshop hobbyist actually valuing them more. Keep this in mind when deciding if a particular White Dwarf Issue is good for you.
Contents: New Releases
Here we get a useful Sigmar release with the Orruks or the army formally known as Orks. Leading the way is the Maw-krusha a Wyvern-Bull Dog hybrid creature which fits perfectly with the Ork ascetic. That is followed by the equally impressive, but cartoony Orruk Gore Gruntas boar-like creatures. Then we get Orruk Brutes which are perfect conversion fodder for Nobs and any impressive looking Ork. The single pack characters also don’t disappoint with the Oruk Megaboss, Weirdnob Shaman, and Warchanter. It is a impressive release and one all fantasy or 40k Ork players should enjoy. GW has a few rule books to go with the Orruks: Ironjawz Battletome and Grand Alliance: Destruction. GW is also releasing new sets of dice cubes. Black Library gets on the Orruk bandwagon with Fury of Gork and not to be left out a audio drama The Path of Heaven for the Horus Heresy.
Contents: The Green Horde
Here we get some details on the Ironjawz clan of Orruk, which is very Bad Moon with tons of yellow and what not. There is some impressive images here, but very little in the way of actual useful or insightful content.
