BoK Reviews: White Dwarf Issue #95
White Dwarf Issue #95: Champions of the Imperium
White Dwarf reviews operate differently than other Blood of Kittens Reviews. The goal with these reviews is to place a value for each issue. The rating system is one to four stars, each star represents $1 in value, to a max of four dollars. The review values are also Warhammer 40k based; Age of Sigmar dedicated issues will still be reviewed, but valued for Warhammer 40k players. It means you could see many low valued issues, with the general Games Workshop hobbyist actually valuing more. Keep this in mind when deciding if a particular White Dwarf Issue is good for you.
Contents: New Releases
This issue is all about new releases for the coming Holiday season. The centerpiece of the new releases is the perhaps the best model of the year: Blood Angel with Jump Pack. Everything about this model is sublime, the wings, the skull, the six pack. Next we get the release of Captain Kraelen from the Deathstorm box set from last year. The long awaited release of Imperial Assassins is also here, without buying a boardgame just get a Culexus. The odd release of the week goes to the Leman Rush Tech-Command set; you get a single Leman Russ Battletank along with a new plastic Tech-Priest Enginseer, which is a great update to an old model, but why do I have to buy a Leman Russ tank of all things to get it?
The most important release though is the War Zone Damolces: Mont’ka/Klling blow. We get the usual campaign book action, with rules for the Farsight Enclave along with rules for the Imperial Guard– this could be a hint of things to come for the the Astra Militarum. GW also brings us two unique terrain sets, one for 40k and another for Sigmar. The Relicos Miltarium and Helfort use old parts, with a few added bits for uniqueness. Finally, Forge World is set to release Garro, Hand of the Sigllite, the sculpt is fantastic with an amazing base and heroic pose.
Contents: The Killing Blow
These few pages go into what you can expect from the new campaign book. Broken into eight vignettes, each detailing a major focal point in the campaign. Things like Farsight and Shadowsun first meeting in over 250 years to Assassin teams being deployed to kill Etherals. GW does a good job of teasing the reader about how the story will play out, especially considering the last book saw a Chapter Master die, who knows what happens next!
Contents: Readers’ Models
Here we get some reader submissions to White Dwarf, but really this is just a showcase of images you will find in the next Warhammer Visions issue. Only a few of the models shown really measure up, here are the best blow.

Contents: Paint Splatter
Want to duplicate the paint job of the new jump pack Chaplain? Well here is a paint splatter for you. The colors chosen are similar to the Flesh Tearers chapter scheme, but we get some details on how to use the new AoS colors to create extra boldness.
Contents: The Week in White Dwarf
Sadly, the week in useless information has returned! The section is a slightly more in-depth look at the new releases. The only part that stood out to me was the Techno-Arcane Wargear glossary for all the bits you find on a Tech-Priest.
Next Issue Hint: The Exalted Grand Marshal Returns!
Final Verdict
Issue #95 is a very mediocre issue, it is nothing more than a Holiday Advertisement, with content dedicated only to selling models and Black Friday deals.
You are better off just picking up a GW holiday brochure or heading to there website to get all the same information found here.
