So These were relatively painless , I think I almost enjoyed painting them. Tried hard to be less anal than usual with the aim of getting an actual whole army out… I think I failed, but I really like these bad boys.
I have a squad of seven assembled (two actually) for show display purposes , 4 Blasters , 2 dark lances and Drakon with blast pistol … I’ll be cracking on with 2 more blaster-borns tomorrow
Plus El’diablo in his crippled state has been showing me up, the man is a quality mini factory…
Seriously wired for Forgeworld open day ‘Eldar edition’ this coming weekend , currently trying to talk myself out of a phantom titan ..and some lynx’s *weep*
back soon with MoAr.
Not sure whats up with the main picture, theres nothing showing.
Some decent looking DE mate, the sharp highlights and osl on the base really make them pop.
I’d tidy the base edge up though, some red spilling over the sides. Quick touch up with black and your good.
Main picture should be fixed now, stupid fucking wordpress, I wanted the title image separate from the gallery , apparently something that simple is not possible , the ‘gallery is ass too , you have to click through twice to see the damn picture.
The bases get a clean up with black prior to varnish going on , I’ll do the whole squad at once, just something I do….
Simply awesome. I hope mine will look half as good once painted! The lightning in particular is really well done, how much time did it take ?
Nice true-bornies, they’re classic example of good tabletop painting skill.
How did u made that shiny-glossy effect on the helmet visors? Gloss varnish or something?
Lol, I though they were a bit OTT for ‘tabletop’ standard, cheers.
The gloss effect is just GW ‘Ardcoat, not sure if you can still get it, I use mine in such tiny quantities the pot must be over 5 years old now , and will easily do another five if it does not dry out, possibly the best £2.00 I have spent…
I see, but I wonder maybe GW water effects will do the same as your veteran ‘ardcoat pot.
Btw, cool colour scheme you got there, new-codex style and creepy; it’s time for me to stop jerking dragonage2 and resume painting already >_<
thanks for inspiration though)
Wow. Amazing paint job. I love the sinister black/blue and great helmets. I also love the loin clothes with the blood climbing up them. Sinister, very sinister indeed.
Hey Cheers for the positive comments , I’m actually enjoying the paint scheme immensely , not tried anything quite so atmospheric before. have actually finished my baron conversion and given him his first coat of black, need a new can to finish him off though, will try for some more TB this weekend, tho so excited about FW open day I can’t sit still long enough to paint, anyone wan’t to buy my liver for £450.00 ?
Man those are some nice looking minis! You might even need to let us in on the colour scheme so I can give a unit a go.
Lovely stuff, the subtle grey and the red up-lighting makes them truly sinister. Those dome helmets at just too cool – a real change from the usual “Termite” pointy helmets lifted from Nemesis the Warlock. Hopefully the quality of your painting will make up for your table top performance – constantly winning must be getting dull 😉
why thankee, I take it you mean the grey backdrop ? not too sure what to say maybe having nice models on the table will help with dice flubbage ?
The black and greys in the armor are really well done but it’s the OSL and blood effects really make these fantastic!
Would love to know more about your technique for the armor and OSL.
Cheers!
