Yo.
In order to be ready for early list testing on Monday night I have stepped it up to get the Tantalus ready to rAwK.
It’s actually done now I just wanted blog pictures before the Black spray goes on tomorrow.
I managed t get a fair few things done this last week . I completed the base for it with Parts from Ryans Hilarious/tragic melt-raven ‘incident’ which has happily allowed me to continue with my theme of wrecked GK vehicles on my basing which will continue to substitute for Matt Ward’s overdue sterilization/book burning. I am particularly fond of the bodies squished into the wreckage *happy sigh*
On the same day I did the base I dealt with the all female crew , the two clinging on to the hull are magnetised for transport, each has a teeny magnet in the foot to go with one sunk into the Tantalus. Just one quick question, do you think the Pilot chick would be better with one of my glass dome helmets and that flyaway pony tail from the scourges sculpted on to add movement ? hmm, I’ll add a poll over on the right there. (well if I can ever figure out $&*@*±G WordPress)
Last Night I decided to magnetize the sail, which seemed like a spiffing plan up to the point where I utterly destroyed the front joint trying to get magnets I had put in the wrong way round out, this is a proper DE vehicle, it tortured me all last night and at one point was spattered in blood from the multiple wounds it cruelly tricked me into inflicting on my own fingers. Somehow fitting…
As you can see in the pics I have re-built and re sculpted the mast joint, there is a metal socket in there now which came from the bits box, I have no idea what the hell it is or where it came from, but it does the job, “bang tidy” Everything stays on quite securely so I’m pleased.
All of this work has of course been completed to avoid finishing the batch of Hellions I started last Sunday, who knew procrastination could be so productive?
For anyone interested I have an army list competition of sorts running in the last post, closing date is two weeks, check it out.
Path of the Warrior is in my possession and maybe Ill find time to do a vid review of it in the next week or two, I want more Vids/bat reps on the blog this year.
Hasta la vista
Nice stuff, that is looking good.
Can’t wait to see it painted.
The base is a very nice touch particularly, damn those GKs!
Plus that air intake on the SR is so ugly, who the hell would ever put it on the model! Let alone the landing pads. Makes it look even more like a flying box, rather than a rapid assault/attack vehicle.
Female crew and the driver with wip are a particularly nice touch!!
BTW I loved the Path of the Warrior and Path of the Seer novels, quite well done and interesting story. The way they link together is really good. Obviously been written by a marine fanboi since some of the battle scenes are a bit one sided, apparently lots of fighting of movie marines, but apart from that quite good.
The pilot looks alright, but there are some of the jetbike helms with a pony tail and the domed face sheild that are quite cool. I currently use Scourge helms for all my drivers, its a good way of giving them some character!
Path of the warrior started well and alot of the Eldar life stuff was pretty good really but overall It was pretty lame imo.
Subsequently I have yet to read path of the seer, I’ll have to be really really bored and with nothing else to read I think.
Path of the renegade is actually very good so far and I am enjoying it, lets see how it plays out.
Could not sort out the poll and I can’t be arsed to find another Reaver head so she can stay as is.
Lets be honest, GWS hates Xenos races and sadly despite the ability to publish very poor content pertaining to Imperial armies generally kicking everyone elses face in purely as a marketing ploy they don’t seem to realise that everyone else would like a bit of fairness in their own books.
We can buy about 50 books talking about stupid mindless marines killing off half the universe, despite having an IQ of about 10 (despite the fluff about them being smart), and yet that same rubbish seems to carry over into every other armies novels, even when fluff and points would suggest a much fairer match up, if not a battle that flows in totally the opposite direction.
I’m hoping the third installment evens out the entire story, but knowing GWS it will probably end with the Eldar all dying or something equally lazy and stupid.
The Path of the Seer was good because it really did a great job at representing a Warlock and Farseer and the kind of power they should wield.
I tried to read the Atlas Infernal book but couldn’t get through the first few pages. Might get better further in but some of the Black Library authors strike me as barely having the intelligence to learn to read/write, let alone get work published.
Perfect for the movie marine interpretation in most warhammer publications, with the only exception being xenos codexes, which have to show xenos kicking arse or they wouldn’t sell.
Seriously though, you should read Eldar Prophecy before reading the new Eldar novels. It is such a steaming pile of shit that you can really truly appreciate the newer stuff to a much greater depth.
It is a really lovely looking miniature, can’t wait to actually see it in the flesh myself. We need to get some gaming in!!!
Yeah we do, been a while now Jody, jeez time flies…
i’m glad im not the only one who couldnt get that damn sail perfectly straight….
cant wait to see how it turns out…. loving the base…. given me some ideas on how to do mine cos the one that comes with it just isnt fit for purpose…
Interestingly, though it’s too late now Ifihured out how to get the sail straight on the reaper I assembled today.
hot water a flat surface and a suitably large heavy ish smooth book/board/flat thing, works a treat, you’ll have to hurry while the heat is in it ;o)
yeah the base they send you is utter gash, I asked some uncomfortable questions of the warhammer world manager, ” Excuse me I think I have been given the wrong base by mistake” etc
Fortunately for me Ryan cooked his Stormraven and I got the base and its wreckage to play with (poor bloke)
“Hilarious/tragic melt-raven ‘incident’”
Sounds something like what we had locally a few months back. A guy bought a cheap & very badly painted GK army from another with intent to strip the minis & repaint them. So he put all of the minis (raven included) into a bucket of acetone overnight. The next day the acetone was kinda opaque, so he reached in and pulled out…..slag.
lol!
In some ways this was worse, though a similar lesson.
hurrrying to finish it up he just wanted to dry out the paint a bit so he could get the varnish on sooner , got a little sidetracked aaand melty melty.
He really slogged to paint those too, he just won a best painted award for that army today actually, he’s obviously painted a replacement now, that must have been utterly soul destroying.
Its not really a good idea to rush 😛 Always ends badly, like when I spilt a brand new FULL pot of super glue all over my almost finished DK….
I used oven cleaner on a squad of old school metal GKT. I hate plastic because stripping is just a pain.
That thing is a beast.
Can’t wait to see it painted.
Well Its black now , and I think I’m a little high on paint fumes :S
Prob start painting it next weekend.
